I don't think this article is correct. The issue of whereDate mentioned is not a scalability problem, but the way you are using something without knowing it. It is a programming problem rather than software engineering to cover the entire application.

The same code can be written in any other framework or language, and with that logic it also becomes not scalable. This article doesn't understand what scalability is. In my opinion, Laravel is designed to scale well both for rps and productivity.

There are many issues of course that you didn't cover in this 2 min tweet here, which could have made up for a better read. Just by saying don't know how it works is not a scalability problem of a framework.
