As the story also tells throughout, that we compare using default settings and simple queries. It is a good indication that default settings on MySQL are far better than PostgreSQL Users don’t have to change or fine-tune. I think it is a fair comparison for startup apps that want a DB that performs well upon installation out of the box. We’ll do a fine-tuned comparison next, mostly to tuneup PostgreSQL so it can catch up to Mysql’s default settings. Again, please note that this is solely for the purposes of simple queries.
